This bank-holiday weekend the free-to-enter funfair is on The Links in Whitley Bay, 11am–6pm through Monday 31 August. Tynemouth Station Market is under cover on Saturday and Sunday, 9am–3:30pm.

Friday 28 August: St Mary's Lighthouse birthday picnic, 11:30am, free. Rain about 30% at picnic hour. Leave the island by 2:33pm (safe crossing 06:37–14:33). Monday 31 August: Dinky Dinosaur Adventure Day at Stephenson Steam Railway, North Shields.

Food: Trenchers kids eat for £1, Monday to Friday until 1 September, not bank-holiday Monday.

Jam Jar this weekend: Coyote Vs. ACME (PG) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day (12A) still have Saturday times. The cinema is closed Monday.

Tynemouth Food Festival, 5–6 September, lists 15 and under free with an adult.
